I just spent several hours in several used books stores trying to locate the novel which inspired the prompt, all to no avail. Don't worry, I'll find it and buy it online if need be, but find it I must. Group marriage! Captain James T. Kirk! Star Trek the Reboot! (Group marriage!?!!)

I shall try to do it justice for you.
